Default Input jack hums

I replaced the input jack on my strat style guitar with a new one and started to get a hum no matter what pickup position I used. I took pictures before I swapped the jack to make sure I don't mess up. When I switched back to the original jack, the hummimg went away. Any ideas why a different jack would hum?

It sounds like you accidentally swapped the hot and shield on the jack. It's easy enough to do because the two connectors aren't always at the same locations for different manufacturers.
