Enya Nova Go Mini
Seems there is a new "Mini" version of the Enya Nova Go, 32 in vs 35 in.
https://www.amazon.com/Acoustic-Acus...ef_=ast_sto_dp I have the Nova Go SP1 (with built-in effects), and I really like it, so comfortable to play in the couch, keeps the tuning, and nice sound. |

I have 2 Nova Go guitars, with no electronics. Great for stashing in a family member's closet so I don't have to think about taking a guitar on a flight. |

I was just about to post this as well. A bit curious though, as the scale length of the mini is given s 22.8", while that of the regular Nova Go is 23 1/8". Hardly seems like much of a difference to explain the 3" shorter overall length. If you can believe the values given in the write up the mini is 4.7" thick while the regular GO is 3.2". So maybe they gave it a shorter but thicker body to improve the sound? What the heck - at $99 and free returns I think I'll give it a try.

It does look thicker in those photos, Steve. A hundred dollar CF (?) guitar. I see it isn't currently available on Amazon. Enya is calling the original Nova Go a "1/2 size guitar," and this one a "1/4 size guitar." The Nova Go: a "beginner guitar" and the Nova Go Mini "beginner kids."
And their description of the Nova Go is "A taste of carbon fiber." Of course, they aren't made with sheets of carbon fiber, but appear to be what inexpensive boat makers use for their fiberglass: a chopper gun (resin and shreds of glass). No idea how much carbon fiber (likely some threads) is used in the making of these. 4.4 rating on the Nova Go, with 1,495 ratings... so, they're selling. No rating numbers or reviews on the Mini on Amazon.

And yes, the comparison with the use of a chopper gun is quite apt. Elsewhere I have seen write ups of Enya's "carbon fiber" ukuleles as containing 25% to 30% (by weight?) carbon fiber. Reinforced nylon typically contains about 30% glass fiber, so that amount of carbon fiber seems reasonable. Last edited by Steve Christens; 11-25-2023 at 09:05 PM. |

It wasn't before, but it's currently unavailable for me. Their initial stock has probably run out...

I would not be surprised if this "Mini" is just a rebranding of the Nova Go after some design changes.
It beats me why they call this a 1/4 size model though. A true 1/4 guitar has a scale length of 19" - 20".

narrower and shorter sound box
Enya Go lower bout is 11 3/4” wide.
Enya Go Mini lower bout is 10 1/4” wide. Judging from photos, the Go Mini has the same soundboard proportions as the Go. The narrower soundboard on the Go Mini indicates that its soundboard is shorter than the Go which accounts for most of the shorter overall length. Enya often uses different terminology than the North American steel string and the Euro American classical guitar communities. A large part of their market is new middle class buyers in Asia, and a slightly different terminology has evolved to communicate with those buyers. (PS. The Go Mini soundboard dimensions are approx the same as a baritone ukulele). Cheers.

Wonder what the cases are made of. I'm assuming they're cheap nylon. But those 1st gen Nova Go cases were quite nice, with a surprising amount of under-the-neck storage considering the overall size of the guitar/case.

For anyone wanting to treat themselves to a last minute holiday gift, the "Mini" has a 20% off coupon today, with the promise of a delivery by December 14th (at least here in Minneapolis, MN).
Even if it does sound like a toy, $80 would be hard to resist. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1 |

I bought one about a year ago to take on cruises…and it was okay for that. While it is a bit quiet, it still makes acceptable guitar sounds. It is on the small side. Currently it is a wall decoration.
