Question Capos on 12's and Nylons

I've used a Shubb capo on my 414ce for years and love it. I'm curious as to which brand you feel works well 12 strings or nylons?

I've always been a fan of the Dunlop toggle capo, which you can see at http://www.jimdunlop.com/capos/togglecapos.html. I've used them for at least 30 years on both my steel string (curved) and classical guitars (flat). I can't speak to the Taylor NS, but it's going to be a tough match because it's less curved than their steel string models. I don't how well the toggle works on a 12-string because I haven't tried it in a long time, but I'm pretty sure it's long enough.

The toggle is like the basic mousetrap in that it's not very fancy, but effective. It's also cheap, even with the "adjust-o-strap." I keep one with each of my 6-stringers so far and will drop one in my 12's case as soon as I get around to trying it.

I have a Shubb 12-string model that doesn't cut it for me, despite having a softer pad that should be more compliant with the varying string gauges.

I have a Shubb 12'er that worked fine on my Alverez but when I upgraded to my 750 the middle strings buzz. I think it doesn't like it because the shubb has a slight curve to the arm.

Although I love the Shubb on my 814.

I get good results with Dunlop's "Trigger" capo. It's pictured at the top of the page in the link above as part of the menu.

Keyser makes a good capo too.

Default Shubb

I have them all and I like the Shubb best. The one with the little wheel works best for me. The older model buzzed in the middle even tightened all the way.

Default 12 string capo

Kyser makes capos for both 6 and 12 string. I use a Kyser 12 string capo on my 750 and it works just fine. Been using this one for about 2 years and have found that they don't last much beyond that on a 12. I also used it on my Tak 12, and on a Jose Ramirez with equally good results.

I have one Dunlop Trigger designed for steel strings, and another designed for nylon, and they both work fine on my NS32CE.

Thumbs up

Kyser Quick-Change on the "12" and classical. Dunlop "Adjust-O-Strap" for EVERYTHING ELSE!
