Default $10K budget. What guitar?

Fantasy guitar? Given $10K to blow on 1 guitar, what would you get?

If new, a Doerr Solace Select Italian/Brazilian.

If used, a Olson SJ Cedar/EIR.

Both cloaked with Caltons of course....

Something in a Petros? Hint, I like railroads
Or I could also save some money and just buy Larry Patis' Woolson JP and be a happy man!

great question, although I've never played a 10k guitar so I have no idea.

Maybe I"d buy 2 5k guitars, Collings and something else.

Or 1000 Estebans.

Unless Larry purchased a gold leafed Calton for it, that JP will cost you a heckofa lot less than $10k. :^)

If I was given 10k and couldn't spend it on anything except a guitar I'd look for a Martin 0-45JB. Trouble is, even if I found one for that price I'd probably still feel guilty spending the $.

I'd probably look for a great sounding vintage D-18 late 40's early 50's. I also love the early to mid 60's D-28S 12 Fret Martins but they are a bit less than 10k usually. A Santa Cruz 1934 D would be nice also. Boy that would be fun shopping!!!!

If it had to be just one guitar, I don't know - while I've played a few great guitars in this price range, I'm yet to have been tempted to drop that much on any single instrument.

Otherwise, what I bought - a used Indian rosewood/German spruce Baranik JX and a new Sitka/mahogany Collings OM1

Yea, but I sure love the sound Larry gets out of that box! I could afford to take some lessons or fund a guitar camp with the extra $s and attempt to play it as well as he does! (key word here is - attempt)
Paul, you build some awesome guitars

At that price, for me i'd probably either go for a Tony Vines, Charles Hoffman or Tom Doerr and let them pick the woods.

But those make my ears happy... you'll see have to see what makes yours happy!

Kindly,
Danny

The same guitar I would buy if my budget was $2500. Wow that was easy.

Definitely a Beneteau with fanned frets. Or a used Greenfield G4 FF like the 12th Fret currently has

I'd pay for the Doerr and Stehr guitars that I have coming.
