1947 Martin 00-18
Up for sale is a powerful and deep-sounding 1947 Martin 00-18! Here’s the demo video:
https://youtu.be/svg17I4coVM Tapered-braced mid- to late-’40s Martins like this one are among my absolute favorite guitars. This 00-18 has a depth that belies its size, and there’s just nothing like the old Sitka/mahogany combination…it sounds beautiful, records well, and fills a room. When these smaller-bodied Martins are set up correctly, even with the shorter scale, they can flatpick as well as they can handle fingerstyle. It’s a super-versatile guitar! This guitar is fresh off a neck reset and refret by luthier Judge Wolfe, so it is in perfect playing shape. Judge also repaired two top cracks. A back crack was glued previously, and there are no side cracks that I can find. There is significant playwear across the surface. The tuners are original, although the buttons appear to be older replacements. There looks to be a very old and very light overspray on the top only, but it’s clear that the guitar has received quite a bit of playing time since that was applied. The nut width is the typical 1 11/16”, and the neck profile is pretty hefty! Asking $6,600 plus shipping. Comes with very old chipboard case (not sure if it’s original).
