Sadly, your guitar is NEVER going to sound good through a $100 amp.
I get wanting to amplify. I've gone through several acoustic amps in the $500 range (Fender Acoustasonic Pro, TC Helicon v100, DigiTech VL4, Digitech 2120) and they were never able to capture the natural tones coming out of my guitar. You always have to fiddle with it to make it sound better but you will always have to compromise. If you just have to do something might I suggest a ToneWood Amp for $250. A bit above your budget but I think it might foot the bill. my .02 -Matt- |

The Zoom gx1 4 looks promising for my needs (wants). Cheap, mobile, good for couch strumming and probably more than I will ever need.
Thanks for all of the great suggestions!! |

I disagree. "Plugging in" can be an entirely new experience for acoustic players. You can barely touch the strings and they're making sound for you. I picked up a used Vox AD30VT for 100 bucks (you can too!) and it's got all these different models and settings - reverb and chorus, etc., etc. Hey, it's fun.

I like playing my acoustics with an amp so I can shape the sound with knobs. Recently I bought a Stage Right by Monoprice 5-Watt 1x8 Guitar Combo Tube Amplifier with Celestion Speaker. Amazing little amp that can be 5-watt or 1-watt. At the time they were on sale for $100, now back up to $159 but Amazon had them cheaper. Check it out, cheapest tube amp I have ever seen and sounds good with an acoustic.

What about something like a Positive Grid Riff? You can run it into any other amp as a speaker if you want and already have one. It has a several acoustic and amp modeling options.
