Default Taylor Question

I have a 2008 Taylor GS Custom GSWS-E. Can anyone tell me what GSWS-E stands for? I'm trying to find out what I can about the guitar but not much info out there.

Probably made out of Walnut.

I would just contact Taylor for more detailed info about that particular guitar.

Grand Symphony Custom Walnut Back-and-sides, Spruce-top-Acoustic-electric? This would have the magnetic-pickup-based ES1.2 system.

The S may also designate the Stealth Expression System System which has no visible control knobs. Does your guitar have the typical three external ES control knobs or interior controls?

When the original Grand Symphony series came out, there were three stock versions:
  • GSRS - Grand Symphony Rosewood Spruce (Sitka)
  • GSRC - Grand Symphony Rosewood Cedar
  • GSMS - Grand Symphony Maple Spruce (Sitka)

I think DukeX and SpruceTop are right on and that yours was spruce over walnut. My guess is that the walnut back and sides were the "custom" options for that build.

I had a 2002 W10ce that was a phenomenal guitar and one I kept for many years, so I’m sure that GS sounds great!!

Just wanted to congratulate you on a great guitar! I have a GS RC from the original series, and it's one of my favorite guitars.

I've owned two walnut Taylor guitars and was impressed with the tone and the figuring of the walnut they used...
