Yeah but that wasn't a "defect". The wear on the body was from a lot of playing. a LOT!
NO ONE would ever MISTAKE that for a brand new Taylor and ship it by mistake.
WOW!
What kind of store is this?

Now as for the action on the used and broken guitar..
For the next one, to the OP, google or search here for how to check and adjust a trussrod.

It's simple and as far as I'm concerned, a very important thing to know if you want years of stressfree enjoyment from your instrument

I got three guitars like that from my local GC..before the manager had enough of me...and they finally just ordered one off their catalog to my house. Best decision I ever made. Go to a hardware store and get your self a 64th's rulers. I have one and it cost less than 5 bucks. I take it with me when looking at floor models. You can check the action that way and tell if it is warped. Saves you a lot of hassle. Good luck with the Taylor 110...nice bright sounding guitar.

Okay, there's one very important thing here.

THE TRUSS ROD IS NOT USED TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE ACTION.

The truss rod adjusts neck relief. Now, too much neck relief can cause action issues, but a lot of guitars have been destroyed because somebody thought "Oh, action's too high, better crank the truss rod some more."

You adjust the action at the bridge and the saddle.

Well, my new 110 arrived today. I can say for sure is new because of its serial number (year: 2012) and this time they shipped with the original Taylor box. The guitar still smells like wood and whatever substance Taylor uses to glue the parts.

Now I can see the difference between the neck joint of a new guitar and the first one they shipped to me. This one is perfectly regular and have no gaps or spaces between one part of the wood and the other one.

The action is very confortable and lower that the action of the first guitar. I can play chords an solos all over the fingerboard and it feels very good. This was the action I wanted.

Also I noticed the top wood is brighter than the previous one, and have no signs of past use.

I would like to think this was an error from the seller, eventhough they didn´t even apologize for the inconvenience. That pisses me off a little bit.

Anyway, thanks everyone!. Hope you could understood my english.

Glad it all worked out for you mongomarino.

Do you have high humidity issues? What city do you live in?
The reason I ask is that I have 4 Taylor guitars and the action on all of them are perfect (for me at least) but only when the humidity is ideal (45-55%. I left the GS Mini, which has a solid sitka spruce top, out of the dehumidified closet and just in the room which has an average humidity of 73% and sure enough, it raised the action quite a bit. Two days back in the dehumidified closet and the action returned back to it's original and comfortable level.

Lesson learned from the story, if you're truss rod is adjusted correctly to the correct bow, you should not need to shave the saddle down. Doing so will most likely create problems with buzzing once your humidity level is corrected.

Then again, you may not even have a high-humidity problem.

Good luck and congrats on the new 110. I have a 114ce and love it!

...
Joe
