Just as you were getting into your stride with that flatpicking as well. You've picked a fine time to leave me loose heel.

You are probably to the point in your life where you are looking for an upgrade anyways -it might never be worse than where its at and if its still playable , keep playing it. Taks are great instruments -maybe one of the best values that their are in a guitar ( they all have a nice sound - the solid wood top models are even better ! ) For 99 dollars you could of done worse - and their basically a starter or Christmas guitar ( the kind of guitar a budget strapped Gramma gives her grand kids )-so you did fine .

In the top photo, is the binding coming loose or is the bottom lifting. On the right side of the heel.

Some guitar makes/models costing many times more do the same thing without any worry or concern. As has been stated, it cost a C-note so I wouldn't put much money into it. That said, I'm also not a fan of wasting money. Check the neck angle and string height (your teacher should be able to help with that) and if it's playing well enough for you - keep playing it. Otherwise, maybe Christmas is the perfect time to move towards a new/used guitar that better suits your burgeoning needs. ... Merry Christmas

Dan, the heel is lifting away from the body.

It's playing well enough right now that I don't think I need to do anything in the short term. And yes, I've been dropping hints to the wife and saving my pennies for something new to me. I love the sound of my friend's D-18 but will need to find something that speaks to me.

Highplains;
I meant in addition to the heel, it appears the bottom is either separating, or the binding is coming loose.
