Good point the Lith. ion batteries are great because they can be charger in 30 minutes, and hold their charge longer that the NIMH rechargeables. As stated the LI-ON'S are 2 millimeters larger and fit is a problem. Though the NIMH batteries dont hold a charge as well they do start out with about twice the capacity of the disposeable 9 volters. Charge times can be as much as 24 hrs however.

There may be a slow 'self-discharge' NIMH available, but you would need to do a search for it. I don't recall sweeing a 9 volt with the slow discharge feature. If so that would be a good alternative........
