In addition to the above mentioned,

I play an uptempo version of McLean's "Castles In the Air" in drop D.

Also "Living in the Country" by Pete Seeger.

and "Ponies" by Jeffrey Hawthrone Bullock.

and sometimes "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young.

"A Simple Song" by Chris Stapleton is a finger-picker capo'd to suit your voice.

"Green, Green Rocky Road," by Dave Van Ronk. The only song I know in Drop D. Consequently, my favorite in that tuning. And a great one at that.

David

I probably play almost 20% of my repertoire in Drop D or Double Drop D.

Here's a few:

Drop D

Doctor My Eyes - Jackson Browne
Against All Odds - Phil Collins
All My Loving - Beatles
Beeswing - Richard Thompson
By the Time I Get to Phoenix - Jimmy Webb
Colder Weather - Zac Brown
Dry - Ron Hynes
Everybody's Talkin' - Fred Neil
Love Song - Sara Bareilles
Lungs - TVZ
My Maria - B.W. Stevenson
Overseas - Jason Isbell
Relatively Easy - Jason Isbell
Rock 'n' Roll Song - Valdy
Southern Nights - Glen Campbell/Allen Toussainte
Sylvia's Mother - Dr. Hook/Shel Silverstein
The Air That I Breathe - The Hollies
The Great Beyond - R.E.M.
The Road Goes On Forever - Joe Ely/Robert Earl Keen
The Way - Fastball
My Life - Billy Joel

Double Drop D

Songs She Sang in the Shower - Jason Isbell
I Can Still Make Cheyenne - George Strait/Aaron Barker
Keep the Customer Satisfied - S&G
Whitehouse Road - Tyler Childers
Starman - David Bowie
867-5309(Jenny) - Tommy Tutone
Beg, Steal or Borrow - Ram Lamontagne
Birthday - The Sugarcubes
Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
Fall Down As the Rain - Joe Crookston
First We Take Manhattan - Jennifer Warnes/Leonard Cohen
Jitterbug Boy - Tom Waits
Mama Tried - Merle Haggard
The Ride - David Allan Coe
Mari-Mac - Great Big Sea/traditional
Martha - Tom Waits
The Chair - George Strait/Hank Cochrane & Dean Dillon
You Should Probably Leave - Chris Stapleton

Whenever I'm arranging a song for solo performance, I play around with the key, capo placement and tuning. I'm sure many of these weren't originally recorded in an alternate tuning; I've just found they sound best for me that way. There's a capo on many of my versions as well.

Once you're in Double Drop D, dropping the 5th string down to G puts you in Open G. There are hundreds of songs in Open G. Drop the 6th string down to C and you have Open G/C (another very versatile tuning).

I've been spending time in double drop D lately. Cinammon Girl is a fun tune to play, and translates to acoustic really well. Song for George by Eric Johnson is where I spend a lot of time, a very challenging tune that is really cool, and I do my own jam off it that uses lots of the voicings.
In Drop D, I do a few blues tunes, Big Road Blues, the original Tommy Johnson tune is great. I also enjoy Lucy Mae, Buddy Guy version, a really cool riff using the drop D that really keeps the tune rolling along. Lots of great stuff once you get going with these tunings.
