Default NGD! Rare Seagull or no big deal?

Once I saw this on cl, i just had to have it! I'm upgrading all of my old guitars which meant giving up old blue, an Ibanez. I didn't know these existed and just had to have it (S6+CW Folk GT blue), and after a few scares, the deal came through and now I have it! I searched the U.S. & Canada to try find another one and came up with nothing, there are 3 or 4 red versions out there for sale though. The top is gloss and back & sides have a matte finish. I sent Seagull the serial & model and they said "That was a 2005 Limited Edition model. Approximately 250 were built." To me it's a huge deal to find a North American Guitar in trans blue and I love it, but in the grand scheme of things I wonder how big of a deal it really is, one of 250 . . . ?

I wouldn't call it "rare", but that's just me.
Congrats on the guitar!

i would call it rare whether it translates into really valuable i don't know. maybe a seagull collector might think so.

Yep ... rare and valuable not necessarily the same thing. It's one of 250 made, so by that standard, it's rare, but as you say, it would take an enthusiastic Seagull fan to value it particularly highly. It's really only rare because of the color. Otherwise, it appears to be a regular Seagull "S" model. It's definitely out of the ordinary though.

Congrats on your new guitar. Rare or not, it looks very nice.

These limited editions aren't limited by resources. They built about 250 because that's the number they figured they would sell.

Thanks for your comments (I'm the OP). I guess it's "rare" because I couldn't find another one (in blue), but basically it's a fancy S6 and only worth so much. It's only valuable to someone who wants one really bad (me). I'm fairly new to Seagull guitars and love them. "Blackville" posted a link to the 2005 Seagull catalog and they make no mention of the limited edition models, but according to the catalog the S6+CW Folk GT is solid cedar top with the typical cherry back & sides.

It's a 2005, so I guess back then they didn't know it was the "original" series yet, it was just considered the "S" series and they had a boatload of models in the "S" series. Here's the link to the 2005 Seagull catalog that "Blackville" had posted before, look for S6+ Folk CW Cedar, that's what this is but in trans blue. http://www.seagullguitars.com/seagull05.pdf

Default Wow

Thats a nice looking Seagull, so I guess I can stop looking around then because I haven't managed to find one yet. They must have sold them mostly back east because a lot of the guitar stores said it didn't exist ( I am taking them a picture of it so they can see for themselfs ) congrats. You know Epiphone made a PR6-S in that color to.ship

Good for you......beautiful find!

I confess my ignorance here....I'm not a texting junkie but I do a little of it. What does "NGD" mean...I see it a lot in this forum?
