Default PRS 2019 Acoustics

Saw on FB that PRS is releasing some new additional models to their budget minded SE acoustics in 2019. Additional models include the A55E which has quilted maple back and sides with an Abaco (green) finish, and the A60E which has really attractive Ziricote back and sides.

I purchased the A50E (flame maple back and sides with tobacco burst finish) and have been very pleased with the sound, playability, etc. for a guitar that was well under $1,000 brand new including a pickup system and very nice hardshell case.

I will be very interested in the A60E with the ziricote back and sides.

Here is a link to some info on their 2019 lineup:

Did you buy that directly from PRS, Jim, or is there an outlet in our area?

Raf,

I did not buy directly from PRS. There are quite a few PRS dealers here in the DFW area, including Guitar Center, but also smaller shops like Tone Shop Guitars on Midway Road in Addison, and Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney.

I got mine actually from a shop in Tulsa called Barnett Music Exchange. When I got the A50E earlier this year, none of the local DFW shops had that model. I happened to be traveling on business in Tulsa and saw that Barnett in Tulsa had some listed on Reverb so I stopped in to try them. I pulled the trigger a few weeks later after checking them out.

The bracing, etc. are modeled after the much more expensive Tonare and Angelus models. These are a lot of guitar for the money.

How is the complexity of tone? Does it have a strong bottom end? (Tone Wise)

I've looked at these and actually played an older model... I didn't get the model number. But I thought it sounded above some of the other guitars in its class/price range
I went and looked it up, it was at my local GC used PRS Angelus Custom SE
Not sure where this one fits with the new models..

But I am curious about the new models

The prices are a bit high for lam sides, I feel. But I'm starting to figure out guitar makers can do wonders with lamination..

congrats... the tonare looks pretty special too.

Hard for a guy like me to step away from the mold that I am in... but dang if I am going to these are going to get a serious look.

Made in Maryland?

The deal breaker for me would be the 1-11/16" nut width.

Since PRS builds these with their "wide fat" neck, you might be surprised. Pretty comfortable neck shape and size for me. YMMV......

Jim ,
thats a very tempting guitar -especially if it has a pickup in it
those who knock laminates dont know laminates
( depends on the instrument and the quality of the laminate ) -My old trusty '78 Guild D-25 has a laminated back -and it doesnt hurt that guitar at all -
at the present time money is tight and i have way too many guitars -
but still tempting ! would love to find one and play it !

any leads as to utube performances of the model you bought ?-

.

Tony,

Yes, here is Brian Ewald doing a demo and talking about the A50E model that I have which came out after the winter NAAM show last year. I'm interested in the 2019 A60E with the ziricote back and sides that is coming out.

I love Tone Shop. Got my HD 28 there as well as an ASAT classic and sweet special edition Princeton Reverb.
