Flamenco of choice?
Trying to find a flamenco I gel with.
I was had a Cordoba C10 but hated it. The fretboard was concave, yuck. I was thinking the Eastman Cabaret JB would be the ticket but one of the owners on here says he didn't like it for that purpose. Open to <$3k-ish suggestions! TIA!

Rather than base what you do on some online opinions that may or may not be well-informed, your best bet is to spend the drive time to get to some stores where you can judge your options hands-on.
You’re just trying to narrow things down, I get that, but somebody else posting in response might hate a guitar that suits you perfectly. Hope this helps. Wade Hampton Miller |

The Eastman Cabaret is definitely NOT a flamenco guitar.

If you want a flamenco for under $3k you have a lot of choices. I’ve tried many of these high volume makers. Take a pass on those IMHO and get yourself a medium to small luthier made flamenco. You’ll save yourself a lot of time turning over guitars by reading about who they are before you shop. The Japanese and Mexicans do a pretty good job around $2k. The Spaniards will cost you more but they have better resell value. That will be important in case you don’t like the guitar. Lot of factors involved. PM me your number if you want to chat about options and specs to look for.

You might want to ask the mods to repost this over on the Classic Guitar subforum - I suspect those folks have more specific knowledge of the breed than most of us over here...

Thanks for all the input!
Yeah, all the stores near me (that aren't guitar center) have regular steel acoustics and maybe 1 or 2 classicals in stock but not really anywhere with flamencos.

Amalio Burguet.
You haven't played a flamenco until you've played a proper hand made Spanish one. They should have a really low action and 'growl' when strummed. They're nothing like a classical guitar. |
