Help identifying this 12 string
This is a long shot to be sure but I would like a little help identifying this Gibson Dove knock-off. There's no serial numbers anywhere (I've looked high and low), no name on the headstock, nothing that would give any indication of where it came from.
Anyone here seen something similar? Thanks! The Eagle stickers were not an original part of the instrument. |

Have you used a mirror and looked at the underside of the top for any information or identifying marks?
Alvarez made copies of Doves. Here is a link with photos. Scroll down. http://www.jvguitars.com/viewcateg.p...stic%20Guitars Also, Tama made similar guitars. 3557/12, TG-80/12 and TG-120/12

I don't know but I would buy that guitar for the eagle stickers alone

Problem is it seems every factory in Japan was turning out Dove clones in the 1970s. Could be an Estrada, could be a Lyle the list is endless. The 12 strings though might narrow it down a bit.

that guitar may be a Lyle
the headstock is very similar to Lyle, and they did make a nice 12 string, but usually the top has Lyle on it clearly. it may have been assembled in the same factory, but a no name, unbranded seconds ? I really am guessing.
but I have 2 Lyle guitars, one is electric, one nylon string. I would buy another one. they both sound great.. My classical is really nice sounding. i have not heard anything better at a store, and I only paid 50 for it on eBay. I won't sell it either. my other Lyle is a Gibson SG style black electric with a cold whammy bar that works great. sound very smooth, mellow, not a cutting type of sound, very easy neck.

It does look like a Lyle. I've also seen similar guitars with the "Kent" brand name.

I have seen guitars a lot like that back in the 70s with no name on the peg head but a label saying "Stradolin" inside.

I'm going with Kingston, but could be any of the Jack Westheimer imports.
