Venetian is winning now. Most of my friends returned their votes via email and standard no cutaway used to be preferred (as of last night) but as of now Venetian is winning there as well.
Update: I talked to Tim Luranc (from R Taylor) few minutes ago and he told me that they make Florentine cutaway from a different piece and species of wood. He says that it's not going to effect the tone, but indeed is a different piece of wood. They just color it and mask it to make it fit with the body. I am right now leaning towards Venetian. As many said above, Venetian is not breaking the flow of the whole design.

I was, I am and will always be a non cutaway man, yes i am in the minority i know.
if you must have a cutaway, then for me florentine is lesser of the 2 evils!! Keyshore

Cutaways are an abomination on an acoustic guitar.

I love the florentine, but I think the venetian looks much better on a style 1.
It just looks better balanced to me. |

Unless you need access to the upper frets, then they are a necessity.

That's what he said. They make Florentine cutaway from a different wood and it is not part of the sides. For Venetian, they just bend sides, but for Florentine they use separate piece of wood they insert.

You refer to the concave part of the side.....at the cutaway I believe.

Venetian all the way.
I think Florentine gets more love because its more unique (and less frequently found on production models), but I absolutely prefer the smooth, flowing curves of the venetian. Something about that sharp point that I feel takes away from what I envision for an acoustic. (Sharp points belong on a bright red BC Rich axe being played by a man from Edison, NJ, wearing a black mesh shirt, acid wash jeans, four gold chains and a leather cuff bracelet, with his dry, thinning hair supported by half a can of Aqua Net to create a feathered mullet that is waving dangerously close to overhead lighting and threatening to cause a small fire, which will dance happily to the off-key, screeching vocals of a second-rate impression of Iron Maiden vocals happening just downstage. It will be lovely, and it will be followed by a drum solo.)

I understood him as a different species, but I could be wrong. I didn't go into detail too much. he said it;s a different wood. Not sure if he meant different species or just different piece of wood.

I like the look of round curves on most guitars, if a florentine cutaway was on a guitar i loved the tone of, i'd buy it.
If i was ordering a custom built i'd prefer venetion.
