Default NGD Cordoba Stage Traditional quick review

I received my Stage today. I haven't spent a lot of time with it, but enough to start to become accustomed to it. So far so good, is the bottom line. Another perfect guitar purchase and delivery by Sweetwater. I've purchased all 4 of my Cordobas from them.

A few notes -

1. The cable jack is not in the end pin.

2. The 2 control knobs other than the volume don't have a dramatic effect, but I like them set midway.

3. The soft case is decent.

4. There is no manual of any type in the case - maybe online somewhere?

5. It came setup very well for my fingers.

6. The guitar is about a pound heavier than my Cordoba C12.

7. I like it. It will take a few more hours for me to become fully comfortable with the thinner body.

Here are three sound clips, the first without any "eq", the second with some eq'ing and the third eq'd but without reverb. I recorded direct from the guitar to my Scarlett 2i4 into Reaper. I have tried direct recording a few times in the past with some acoustic electrics - Epiphone, Gibson, a sound hole pickup in various guitars and my Cordoba Fusion 12, but this guitar has them all beat by a mile. It won't replace recording with mics, but for those nights when I don't want to go in the basement to record something this might be a good alternative.

Edited, no reverb:

And Sweetwater provided me with good photos.

Barry, that is a cool looking Cordoba. I thought I tried one at Guitar Center, but it was a different Cordoba model. Is it completely hollow or chambered?

Your recordings sounded good, the balance of each string of the pickup seems spot on. The eq'ed samples sounded real nice.

Congrats!

Hey Barry, congrats, sounding good - small world...I just received a Stage Edge Burst today. It's a pretty guitar, sounds pretty good plugged in, I must have spaced out though when ordering because the Traditional with the 2" nut is really what I wanted but ordered this for some reason. It's going back for the Traditional. This pickup system is pretty nice though. Enjoy!

Very nice Barry. Do you plan to get an acoustic amp?

Thanks! I have a Fender Acoustasonic 30 and a smaller practice amp, but I will be using this primarily has a practice tool for repetitive drilling and for playing when my son has worked the overnight shift.

Thanks for the review, Barry! Sounds as if your initial analysis is positive. Quick question....I'm assuming the pickup system is active?

I'm electrically challenged, but it has a battery so I suppose it is active.

Looks (and more importantly sounds) interesting: very natural sounding for such a thin body. Have been considering a nylon stringed guitar for a while. How loud is it unplugged?

It's not loud which is one of the reasons why I bought it. It's meant to be played plugged in. I play with nails and at times flesh.
