Default PRICE DROP: 1989 Michael Heiden 0-28 in Brazilian RW/Sitka spruce w/CALTON case $5000

Hi all,

Haven't posted in a while and it's time to let another go. I am looking to sell my Heiden 0-28. For something that is about 35 years old, the condition is incredible. It has maybe one small ding on the top, and very light buckle rash here and there that ought to buff out. Someone in the past was a little overzealous with a peg winder and left some shallow swirls, too.

Now, onto the guitar. If you are here, you know who Michael Heiden is. But if you stumbled upon this guitar by accident, let me tell you, they are rare. It is the second Heiden I have owned, after waiting about 8 years for my first to pop up on the market. Guy Clark owned 2 of Michael's guitars. Michael taught Judy Threet how to build guitars. Michael builds predominantly mandolins, and has for several years, and these instruments go for 5 figures.

If you are looking for a small guitar, this is it. I swear, I use lots of superlatives in my ads, but this one makes all other single 0s shake with fear. It does everything up to medium/light strumming real, real well. With a pick (which I am generally incapable of using), it is ridiculous.

The guitar is super short scale, and has I think a 1 11/16in nut width. The lower bout is around 13.5in. Obviously, I need to measure things, but I promise, it'll happen. Let me reiterate, the scale is super short. The strings are slinky and far reaches are super easy.

Did I mention these are rare? The only one I know of for sale now is through Schoenberg's priced higher than my asking in EIR and what looks to be relatively rough shape. Can't say for certain, but that guitar might be the first Heiden I used to own. Either way, if it is, and you want a small jumbo, I am sure you wouldn't be disappointed to own that one. Just as sure as I am you wouldn't be disappointed in this if you were looking for a single 0.

$5500 OBO PP F&F plus shipping

Default More Heiden Info

I bought a Brazilian Heiden with a lot of bling and a Florentine cutaway in 1994. I paid a ridiculously low price at the time. No one had heard of him apparently. Spectacular instrument despite the bling (my personnel taste opinion). All of Heiden's ads in the back of Acoustic Guitar Magazine featured Mark O'Conner in the photo so I assumed he promoted the product. Rumor is he has a discerning musical ear. This is exactly 30 yrs later and the first I've seen for sale again. Rare indeed.
Good luck to Mr. Seller and congrats to Mr. Buyer.
