Nicely done! I have played a number of guitars made from kits over the years and I have always been impressed but yours looks top notch.
Best,
Jayne

I'm no Martin historian, but I don't recall them ever doing the '18 in this body style.

I think that Martin did a 000-18GE 12 fret for a short time.
But prior to that, I think that you would need to go back to the 30’s to find the standard line of 12-fret 000-18’s.
The 12 fret 000-18 was dropped from the line in favor of the 14 fret in 1935. Same year as first D-18.

Very nice indeed. I applaud you on your craftsmanship.

The Martin has a 1-13/16 nut width. Which is the only thing that I would have changed on that guitar, had I ordered it custom.
I built this one with a 1-3/4.
Which is an easier adjustment when switching from my other 1-11/16ths guitars.
Well done, looks terrific. I agree 12 fret long scale 000's are generally great guitars.

Thanks everyone. I was waiting for someone to notice that I inadvertently inlaid the two fretboard dots on the 11th as opposed to the 12th fret.
It was a funny mistake, but I left it.
Perhaps to make me really think about what I had done…

I have an '03 Martin 00-18VS that I absolutely love. Very much like your new guitar.

Then I put Monels on it and loved it even more. Amazing.

Is your 00-18VS one of the ambertone ones? I was always curious about those, but never had the opportunity to play one.
I have only tried Monels once. But it was a pack that was in the case of a used guitar that I purchased, and they were a bit rusty when I opened them. So they only stayed on for about a day.
Need to give them a real try.

I have one of those Martin 000-18 Custom 12 fretters and it plays and sounds terrific. Bet yours does too. Congrats!

12th fret dots look like they're at the 11th fret, or is it a 13th fret join? I just glanced at that shot because I kind of expected the bridge to be further down the lower bout with a 25.4" (ish) scale and 12th fret join, but my eyes are only marginally better than my ears these days .

Looks like a great build. I do eye those kits occasionally as I'd like an actual short-scale 000. Maybe next winter...

p.s. (edit) - I just saw your post up a few. I responded from the first page, obviously, and I did notice it, but not directly (wasn't checking up on dots), as noted.
