I use my Performance 3 ‘upside down’ on my 7-string Emerald as a partial capo, leaving the 7th (low B) string open. Works like a charm for me, and I’ve not notice it slipping, or having any difficulty holding the lower strings in place.

That’s the way I use my G7th Performance 3 and Shubb de-Luxe capos.
