::strings help::
Hi guys
Just did my first restring to my 214ce Taylor.I changed the Elixir 80/20 with the Elixir Phosphor bronze, hoping to get a better sound and i just feel something is missing. I have no much examples for reference but i think something in the old 80/20 was more shimmering in responsive, and i think much more easy to play... What do you think i should do? give it a few more days? change to the old set back? What kind of strings will be better if im looking for more responsive bass but still the clarity of the typical taylor treble. tnx |

I like D`Addario EXP26`s, they are Phosphor Bronze, sound a little bright when new but get warmer as they wear in.

PB strings will always sound less bright than 80/20. They're useful for taming an overly bright guitar but I always use Elixir 80/20 in preference.

Hi Jorje. Elixirs can take a few hours of playing for them to settle in. I'd give the new strings a few hours of playing so you have reference of what the PBs sound like you your guitar after they've been played a bit and not just brand new.
That said, based on what you posted, you're going to like the 80/20s more. My next set would be Elixir 80/20s. |

How long have the new strings been on? I feel that elixirs take a few hours or play before they settle. And are they the same gauge as the previous? Lighter strings produce a different tone than mediums.

The string is on for a 2 days, but i play total for lets say 3-4 hours in not such an intensive playing. the gauge is the same.
