Thumbs up Martin CS21-11 Custom Shop D-21 Authentic bracing

I recently bought both a CS35-11 and a CS21-11, I find myself gravitating towards the D-35 model a bit over this one. So I decided to let the CS21-11 go. If you've read about these models they had the same build style and bracing techniques used on the Martin D-28 Authentic 1941 model. Its red spruce over Madagascar Rosewood. Back when Martin made these the goal in the custom shop was to keep them as light as possible so they had someone go through all the remaining Madagascar Rosewood sets that Martin had of the original 15,000 the bought in the 90s and find the lightest weight sets and the top 10% lightest weight sets were used on this run of CS21-11 guitars.

This one has a Baggs active pickup that was installed and a strap peg at the neck heel so it's ready to play out. It has the original case.

These are on par with the best Martins I've played built in the last 70 years or so.

Here's a video I did of this guitar.

Fantastic guitars (I own both of them). Martin really knew how to make their Madagascar/Adirondack guitars shine!

I had one of these years ago. Great guitar, and the wood was stunning.

Somebody should buy this guitar. There aren't many out there, and they sound great.

I have one of the Gruhn custom shop models built to the same specs (except ebony Fretboard and Bridge) and It sounds amazing. The combination of the heavily scalloped rear-shifted bracing and slightly thinned Adirondack top gives a tone that is very open but without being overly bass-biased like some of the forward shifted authentics.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to play one of these for a few days. I wanted to buy it, but it was already spoken for. It was one of the two best Martins I've ever played in 50 years. Rarely see these come up. I just completed another deal with Bobby (guitar arriving today), but had I known this would be his next offering, I would have been very torn.

Whoever buys this is going to be elated.

And I was the next owner. Fantastic guitar, but down sized a few years ago. Ya can’t keep em all. Can you?
