Default Played a Crafter.....(my review)

I live in the land of crafter. Everywhere on tv, all the celebs here are playing that instrument.

So it piqued my interest, I decide to start from the top and play the rose model one.

solid englemann top and solid indian rose wood with dragon/fish looking inlays.

it looked pretty good.....

(looked like a mix of a taylor body and with takamine head stock)
the sound was actually that surprised me. It sounded pretty darn good.

I was thinking it would suck, but for it's price. I was pretty floored.

I played some other models and they all pretty much sounded decent to very good.

None of them I would consider bad at all......

If I was looking for a flashy looking, cheap, solid all wood guitar I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

These are like 1/4 of taylor prices and their top models barely breaks the century mark.

I played the cheaper chinese counterparts, and well they sounded very thin to me.

The guitar came with LR-T Pro(Tuner) Preamp with L.R.Baggs Element Pick-up.

No barndoor.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else heard or this brand before?

I have a Crafter D7 with a Solid Cedar Top, and Laminate Mahogany B/S. I think it is an excellent guitar for what I paid for it. I bought it for a beater, and it plays that roll very well. I cant complain at all.

I see them sometimes in the States, but they are all over the Pacific Rim countries I visit. North American guitars are extremely expensive in that part of the world, to the point that I wouldn't buy one, but the Crafters seem to be pretty much a bread and butter guitar there. They and Cort are probably the two best guitars in that region/price range.

I'm in the States. I discovered Crafters quite by accident a couple or three years ago, and have had one ever since. I play a 000-size Martin copy, one of the TA models. It holds its own with various Martins, Santa Cruzes and vintage archtops, and when I headed to France last year for a concert, that was the one I took. They are good guitars.

A local place is carrying them. One of the standard dread models I played was excellent. It played great, seemed well made and sounded like a keeper.....very resonant and lively with good low end.

I own a Crafter 12 string.
Very nice tone and spot on intonation. The only thing that I see wrong with my Crafter is the attention to detail.
There are some rough gouges inside the body along with some excess glue.
I like the headstock and pick guard. It's a very nice looking guitar.
I had narrowed my choice down to the Crafter or a Yamaha 12 string.
The Crafter sounded better and looked better. The price was within a few dollars of each other.

I had a lower end Crafter a few years ago and really liked it for the price. Kinds wish I hadn't traded it. Nice action and quite good sound.

I had one and it was very nice when high strung. Little twelve fret job. I sold it in a fit of GAS.

I own a Crafter Twinbird anniversary model. When I was looking for a steelstring in this pricerange it played and sounded best to me. First I fell in love with the dread model GLX 2500 but then I found out it would be too loud for playing in my home.
And still I haven`t found any other brands in this pricerange with such a good feel on the neck and a sound with warmth and sustain.

I have a Crafter dread with solid Engelmann top and solid mahogany back and sides (DV/200NV). It's a nice little guitar, more of a fingerpicker/strummer than a cannon. Considering the price, it has been well worth having. Nice full-feeling neck (D shape?) with a 1 3/4" nut. Great note separation. I would liken it to a Masterbilt in terms of build and materials. However, they are not in the same league with Blueridge or Eastman. Still, not a bad little guitar for the couch or the office.

Default Don't much like them

I had a D-7 and it was quite thin sounding. I also bought a TA060 from Elderly and it looked great, but the sound wasn't there. Sold them both on eBay and the buyers were happy. Maybe they were deaf?

I think for the inexpensive guitars, Silver Creek and Walden are my favorites.

I thought so too, but it says Crafter SM-ROSE

it says solid englemann top and solid indian rose wood.

Either way, I think those guitar are better than takamines for sure.

The inlays are pretty cool, and price really good.

NO WAY, I wouldn't trade my taylor for it, but if I was starting out, and I want something pretty decent, I would be proud to have a crafter.
