Default S1 Pro Plus for Open Spaces

Hey there, guys! I already have two speakers: K10.2 and Bose L1 Compact.

I am doing more and more wedding ceremonies in open spaces, where (the lack of) electricity is a problem.

Do you know if a Bose S1 Pro Plus would be a good PA for this? Would it be loud enough for open spaces? It's wedding, so I don't need to be TOO loud, but people need to hear me.

What are your experiences with it?

Thank you!

It's certainly not going to fill a football stadium, but yes, they are quite loud for their size. Have you considered getting a portable power station to power one of the systems you currently own? Something like this..

Portable Power Station

There is a lady who busks in my city and powers an L1 with a system like this, seems to work quite well. Not sure how many hours you would get out of it though, maybe someone on here could chime in.

I haven't said everything. I already have one of this. I use an Ecoflow power station that works flawlessly, but I already use it for one of the PAs. Sometimes, when I'm far from the AC power, I use it to power up everything (mixers, PAs, etc.), but I think that I might benefit from another PA closer to me or the MC, so that delay from the speakers don't bother us), and I could grab another Power Station or another battery speaker. And that's when the S1 Pro Plus got my attention.

Do you have the ability to rent one? Volume is a hard thing to put into words. One could say that it would be loud enough for your needs but you really won't know until you are able to try it yourself.

An S1Pro Plus would be a great addition to your PA gear.
It will do well outside for smaller shows and you already have other options for larger shows.

I used an S1 Pro for a bunch of outside gigs and never had an issue. Mine always worked best in the upright and tilted back position, personally I never felt like I got as much volume and coverage on a pole. I’m sure there are others that will come along and disagree with me, but that was my experience with the system. I used it for about 3 years before I ditched my Bose stuff for EV systems.

This is the kind of low SPL high dispersion acoustic gig that the S1 Pro (+) were designed for. I suspect you’ll like it. If you like the sound of the compact, you might even favor the built tone match settings on the S1 Pro. If you don’t need the wireless feature or the extra tone match options, save money and buy the Pro without the plus. Physical controls are easier for me to use at least.

I'd like to give this statement a hearty "AMEN".

The Plus does have physical controls. There is one control that you press to switch between T, M, B and Reverb (indicated by a screen) rather than one control for each.

Yes I think for Wedding ceremony events the Bose S1 Pro will be fine. Those are usually in close proximity and the projection is very even and non offensive.

another vote in favor of the S1. I've used mine in many settings from large outdoor spaces to nearly as large indoor spaces to good effect. When I first got it I had to get used to great coverage of a space at what seemed like too low volume. The dispersion of this speaker makes a huge difference.

I played a wedding service in an apple orchard, about 1/4 mile away from where any power source.

One Bose S1 on a pole, J200 and a mic plugged right into the 2 XLR inputs

It worked out perfectly.

Hey there, everybody!

Thank you so much for all the information delivered here. It helped a lot, and gave me confidence to grab myself a S1 Pro +. I'll grab a + because I found one used here in Brazil at the same price of the older versions, and it is in neat condition.

So... thank you all! Now, with a K10.2, L1 Compact and a S1 Pro+ I think I'll have the cools to cover all the open space weddings I face in the future. Thank you!
