Default Maton Fun Stuff videos.

No affiliation!!!

Artisan Guitars just did a couple of Maton videos - here is a video with a small 808 Messiah plus the big sister Messiah dread. I have the small 808 Messiah non cutaway - it has taken a couple of years to open out, but now it is glorious!

Here is a jumbo Maton Messiah, had one in my hot hands and let it go, for my small 808! Tough choice!

Here is another Maton Messiah dread at another shop:

They don't show/play the wonderful Maton pickups above (same pickup on all Matons!) - so here is an unboxing video from The Guitar Loft of a budget model Maton blackwood dread, I was thinking, thinking, thinking to get this one as well! No, no and no, stop!:

Thanks for the videos, I love what Artisan Guitars do and how they promote Maton guitars in the US. The Messiah is a great guitar, the 808 style is my favourite as well....

My Messiah 808 is one of 3 808 models I have....

With the unusual for Maton rosewood/sitka build, it is probably more like a Martin 00-28 or a Taylor 812, sort of - it has its own thing...glassy Maton style and the best onboard pickup around!

My other 2 808s are more like a Martin 00-18 or a Taylor 512, perhaps - not as much overtone dripping-ness as the rosewood! Better for country blues kind of stuff.

Now in the last video above with the fellow unboxing an all blackwood Maton dread - he plays the pickup to demonstrate and while he is a very positive reviewer, loves everything etc, he had not wound his internal mic forward to sit in the soundhole - the mic boom is joined to the preamp module and you swing the mic around in an arc to approx the 3rd string. (2nd string more treble, 5th string more bass....

As there is zip information on Maton usage, except how much people hate Matons, I will point out for potential Messiah owners that for some reason I prefer the pickup settings on my Messiah with the pickup on full and the mic on exactly HALF! Whereas on my EBG808, I prefer the mic on FULL ala Tommy E - flat out everything.

I just found all this out about my Matons last night! Passing it on.
