Default Information question

Hello All,
A friend of mine just inherited an old Martin model 0028 and is looking for an appraisal of the guitar.
Any recommendations of a person/place, in the Boston area?

Thank you, TC

Might consider Gruhn in Nashville. They will do appraisals based on photos and condition information. If he goes to sell it, the estimate from Gruhn will be widely accepted.

When you say "old" what does that mean? Assuming it really is old by Martin standards, you need someone with vintage experience to accurately assess the originality and potential issues.

In the Boston area, I'd suggested The Music Emporium or TJ Thompson.

Gruhn is good, and since the death of Stan Jay at Mandolin Brothers in NYC, probably the best known vintage guitar dealer still standing. Another couple of respected vintage instrument dealers are John Bernunzio at Bernunzio's Uptown Music in Rochester, NY, and Jim Baggett at Mass Street Music in Lawrence, KS. I've done business with both of those two for decades now, and both are very knowledgeable. Jim is one of the instrument appraisers on Antiques Roadshow.

Mass Street's contact info:

Bernunzio's contact info:

Hope this helps.

Unless you're skipping a digit, that would be 1918-19. Old, indeed....

Try The Music Emporium in Lexington, or Fretted Instruments in Amherst.
