Default Question on Yamaha necks

For you fg and fgx. Experts out there , question on the 800 series necks. Are they the same size? I picked up a fgx800 today to check it out and the neck seemed and looked a lot skinnier than my older fg820. Are they different on the electric models? And would thefgx 820c be skinnier as well?thanks

I've had a bunch of FS and FG 7xx and 8xx guitars, and I've never noticed any differences amongst various the models, except of course for the 12 string 720.

I also currently have an LS 16, and formerly an LS6. If you are looking for a thicker neck, the necks on the LL and LS models seem a hair more substantial. I would characterize the difference as something you might notice when playing an FS and LS back-to-back in the same session, but I personally find it inconsequential with regard to playing.

I also just picked up a CSF parlor Yamaha. The neck on that feels very much like an FG/FS neck, only shorter in scale. Very different from the skinny Taylor GS mini neck.

I have always thought the necks on Yamahas were always very comfortable, but I have always liked a slightly thinner neck design myself.
