1932 Martin OM-18
1932 OM-18. This guitar sounds incredible!
While the issues don’t really change the tone, they keep it from being a museum or collector piece which has always been a plus for me as it means I can actually play it without fear. Most of the issues revolve around finish and repaired side cracks. Recently had frets leveled and crowned. Otherwise here's a brief rundown on the overall condition/originality: - She’s been refinished. There are some areas though where some original finish was just shot over on the sides. - Tuners are original style (one of several styles found on OMs) and no other tuners seem to have ever been installed - The stamped logo on the back of the headstock has been mostly sanded away. - Headstock face retains the original finish with the original borderless logo. - Side repairs are strange and actually look worse from the outside. It appears there was a split that was glued and there's the typical mesh matting w/epoxy used to support it from the inside. Sides seem quite thin in areas from over sanding. - The bridge is a replacement but it's pretty good. Bridge plate is original with a fairly thick maple cap added to the pin area. Bridge pins are not original. End pin hole is slightly oversized - All bracing looks good and presents without modification. - The original ebony nut is intact and appears to have never been removed/shimmed. Comes with a Martin branded hardshell case from what I imagine is the 70's or 80's. Will ship this one air. Looking at 21k shipped.
