I am an incorrigible descender
When practicing scales I notice that I can just about play descending scales, of various patterns, purely by instinct and without active thought.
When I play that same scale ascending, I have to stop, engage my brain, think about what I am doing and remember the pattern. When I get to the top, I put it in reverse and fly and flow back down. Its been that way for as long as I can remember. Obviously just more neural training and muscle memory needed but its an oddity of my own playing brain. I'm a one way scaler.

How odd. I noticed the same thing, I find it effortless going down, but a bit more effort going up.

Is it just with scales, or is there also a difference between hammer ons and pull offs?
