Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) is why I picked up the guitar back in the '80s. He's still my favorite.

I like too many guitarists of all genres to even think about paring the list to a few favorites. Even if I did, tomorrows list might be different than todays.

Instead, I'll list the two guitarists that have had the biggest influence on my playing. For both acoustic and electric it's Keith Richards and Neil Young.

Richards may seem an odd choice for acoustic, but anyone who is into the Stones will know what I mean. He has done some very nice acoustic work over the years, and IMO, is vastly underrated in that category.

Dead acoustic, Bert Jansch, Robert Johnson, Sam Mitchell, Doc Watson.
Living acoustic? Don't really have one.
Dead electric, Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Joe Pass, Chet Atkins.
Living electric, Kenny Burrell, Martin Taylor, Bill Frisell.

Loads more I can't think of right now.
