Default Pristine or well traveled?

Do you like your guitars to look played and well travelled or do you try to keep them polished and pristine?

Well travelled, like me!

Fresh out of the box is EXCITING but there's nothing like honest miles, especially if you put 'em on the guitar yourself. If you do it yourself, you establish a deep bond. It's sorta like marriage.

Well, I tend to take good care of my guitars - they are my tools, after all, as well as things I love - but I also realize that, if I'm taking them out for gigs and traveling with them, there will be some bumps and scrapes along the way!

Like Womack said, all those little dings and scratches are part of your own history with your guitar... I played my Mark Angus F-40 for nearly 40 years, and through all that time, I gigged with it, traveled all over with it, wrote and recorded with it. I learned a LOT of "lessons" with that guitar, and they each showed mostly on the face - and I knew where each and every mark came from!

I take care of them, but I play them and they go with me wherever I go...

I have some of both. The scars on the 1979 guitar bother me a lot less than on the 2017 one.

I try to keep my guitars looking nice but I'm not concerned if they get dinged, large or small.

My '67 is well traveled and all dings are my own. My others, from 2003 to 2016, have a few very minor dings and while not pristine they appear played but well cared for. That's my preference.

I'll buy used when the opportunity presents itself. I prefer one that somewhat played in before I get it.

My Martin has been my go-to guitar for 20 years and has seen alot of gigs. There are flaws that probably only I can see, and I wish they weren't there but considering the work it's done, well...

I do all that I can to keep my guitars pristine as possible.
However they do get nicks and scratches.
Used but not abused is my way.

Kind of in between. I’d like to take care of them but I’m not obsessive about it.

I like to take care of my new guitars…and even when I buy used I typical snag those in near-mint/excellent condition. But I’m fine with the mojo a guitar picks up naturally as it lives it’s life with me. On the other hand, I’ve never been much of a fan of relecing…be it blue jeans or guitars. I like my mojo to come naturally…and usually with a story behind it.

They look like they've been owned by a clumsy oaf for quite some time.

love good honest wear, but hate reliced guitars. Can't see paying more to get something pre-beat up, and they never look honest anyhow
