Default Where to donate instruments

Howdy, gang. I have an old electric guitar I’d just as soon donate to an organization that can help put guitars into peoples’ hands that wouldn’t otherwise be able to have one.

Does anyone in SoCal (Irvine, specifically) know of such organizations? Any guidance appreciated. Ideally it would be tax deductible but it’s not a deal breaker. (We have a small business so any tax deductions we find help defend us from Uncle Sam’s vigorous fingering.)

Thanks!

I've donated several guitars to my local High School music department.

Loma Linda or Los Angeles chapters are probably your closest.

I try local first...like a school music dept, or maybe a friend that knows someone in need.

Aside from the ones mentioned above, you could also try Candaid or All Kids Need Music, though I don't have experience with either of them.

You might also check your local Facebook community. We have a local org with a FB page, whose name eludes me at the moment, that collects musical instruments for at-risk kids.

That’s a great idea, and can help veterans suffering with ptsd.
I find playing (trying to anyway), to be very calming.
