If you are not looking for a reason to purchase another guitar, just take the one that you like to play and sounds good.

The size isn't that big of a deal.
You will be surprised how little difference a Dred and a smaller guitar actually makes when packing.

to be as weatherproof as possible, I'd follow the advice above and get a Parlor size Carbon Fiber guitar - impervious to climate changes and they sound very good these days.
