EAE StompMix4 - using with mic's
I’m thinking about buying the EAE StompMix 4 to use for gigs.
EAE StompMix4 I will be plugging mic’s into the unit, not acoustic guitar. I see myself using one of two set-ups: 1. Two x dynamic mic’s - one for vocals and one for guitar. 2. One LDC mic’ to cover both vocals and guitar (old school single mic’ing). I’m used to using both these set-ups at present for gigs. What I like about the specs of the StompMix 4: 2 x mic’ inputs with 48V phantom power 3 band e/q with sweep for mids (for ringing the room) 2 x notch filters can be set for each channel (for ringing the room) Assignable reverb (could be useful for “dead” venues) Assignable footswitches (great as kill switches between songs!) Can sit on the floor at the bottom of my mic’ stand The output would go direct to one or two powered speakers. Does anyone here have one and use it with mic’s?

I haven't tried the Stompmix because I only use one mic but I do have two of the EAE Gigmix mixers and I'm very impressed with them. The Reverb and Compression effects are very good and it is just as capable as a full size mixer. I really can't praise them highly enough.

I love this mixer and use it… but I think the phantom power is noisy…
I loved so much the stompmix when I bought it that I stopped using my Beta 87a condenser mic and bought a dynamic Sennheiser mic.

I have a StompMix 4 and consider it an amazing piece of gear. I would echo the sentiment that it is slightly noisier than other mixers but in a room with any sort of noise floor, nothing to worry about. It sounds real good to my ears.
The effects are musical and not overly digital sounding. I think for a 4" x 6" x 2" (approx) footprint, it's incredible. The UI is intuitive to me - and the fact one can save settings or scenes makes this a really useful tool for someone using different guitars, mics, etc. The I/O's, buses, etc., are easy to figure out and dialing in a signal so as not to clip is a breeze. Get one, you'll love it!

Thanks everyone.
I would be using the 48v phantom power so I guess I'll just have to test it out to see if the noise is an issue. It does have a lot of features I would want.

I play in a duo with someone who uses a stompmix to mix their vocal mic and sax mic (both phantom power). She loves it. I haven't noticed much extra noise coming from it at the gigs we've played. Not sure what it's like in a super quiet setting.
She powers it with a USB bank and a voltage converter. A+ little unit

Hi Robin, I've used the Stompmix and it's a great tool. I've only used it for 1 mic and guitar, but it's a very versatile mixer/eq/effects unit. You can set up different patches for guitar and mic, works great.

Hi Robin. I use the Stompmix 4. Sometimes I use a mic through it. It works great with either a dynamic or a condenser. Usually though I use it for multi-source pick-up amplification of my guitars. It lives on my pedalboard. I power it with the Mission Engineering 529i rechargeable battery. The Stompmix is a fantastic piece of equipment. You will be glad you purchased it.
