I wonder if the first steel strings received that same sort of knee-jerk reaction back in the day as the idea of plastic guitars do today?

I mean gut strings were organic and warm while I am sure those new fangled steel strings sounded all metallic and artificial.

I would dig on walking into a jam with this plastic guitar!

In an odd way, it would be fun to walk into a jam with this. However, it looks very 60s or 70ish plastic to me like a prop for Romper Room or something. I see nodehopper and blue-wily-fox; I see ewalling and 1cubilindo. It sold for pennies, maybe because it is a toy! LOL But looking to the future; ah yes, space-age plastics. I can see that..........

Actually, if you read the article, the guitar sounded pretty good. Maccaferri was a concert Guitarist himself, and was was making them as legitimate guitars. Problem was, back then, people couldn't get over their PRECONCEPTIONS about plastic, I guess being inundated by Japanese post war trinkets and toys. SO this guitar was never given a fair chance. But I digress, just think what he could do today.......ahhhhh, it is coming.....
