Yea and the Mona Lisa is canvas ... a thin peice of canvas .. with paint on it. This guitar was never meant to be played it is for collecting as a peice of art. If you are not in the market for an art guitar than this is not for you, simple as that.

Enjoy.

After 4k it gets a bit foolish.
Hey, your opinion and you are entitled.

First the D-100 is a collectible for the rich, not a guitar anybody would use as a serious playing instrument, it's covered with jewels and "art" it's not meant to be a player.

I can hear the difference between Adi and Sitka, between EIR and Madagascar. I've had identical guitars with Sitka/EIR and Adi/Madi, I hear the difference and it worth the price difference to me, to others maybe not.

I have upgraded most of the Martin models I like to the top or near top model, I enjoyed the journey, going from an HD-28 to an HD-28V to a D-28 Marquis to an America's Guitar really gave me an appreication of bracing effects and tone wood qualities.

Martins heavy hitters are all on the far side of $5K and many 2-3X that price, worth it to me but to each his own..........peace.

I guess when it ceases to become and instrument, and is now deemed "art" it is of even less value to me. To each his own.

I agree with that. Martin also makes a D-50 that is way over the top but again viewed mostly as a collectible rather than a performing instrument. The D-50 and D-100 are solely for rich Martin fans/collectors, no different than an expensive piece of art to me.

Musicians aren't mostly well off, when someone spends $5-10K on a Martin they are doing it with their ears, not their eyes, there are lots of cheaper pretty guitars out there...........

Actually, the Mona Lisa is painted on a wood panel.
Don't know if it's sitka or Adi, though.

Got to agree. I like the idea of the family pics and the guy wasn't bad but I did not think it sounded good.
