what cool song did you learn today?
after a very long hiatus.. hope i spelled that right, i have been going over my old song books and internet tab/ chord charts sources... and today i learned
tumbling dice... or at least a sketch of it... not the outro yet.. the worlds greatest country song by david A Coe... doctor by the stones.. .. so this acoustic stuff is getting fun... what are you cats hammering at..? |

Reacquainted myself with Wilson Pickett’s “Midnight Hour”.
It’s well over 35 years since I last tackled this one. Like so many songs of that era, it’s deceptively simple, and really easy to get wrong.

I am really envious of you guys that can learn a tune in a day!

I'm about 10% into Yandell's arrangement of "After You've Gone". Some chords in it that are new to me, and they hurt.

Not in one day - but I learned two Eric Taylor songs in the past week . "Prison Movie" and "Happy Endings." The chords and picking is the easy part - committing the lyrics to memory takes me the most time.
I don't consider a song "learned" until I can sing all the lyrics correctly from memory while playing accompaniment. |
