Quick question on strings on new guitar purchase
Hi all!
Just want to ask a quick question...when purchasing a new guitar (Taylor in my case), is it acceptable practice to request the dealer to put on a fresh pack of strings without additional charge? Just wondering...Thanks!

I don't think most dealers would have a problem doing that. The money they make off you on the guitar purchase combined with the low cost of the strings(for them) should make it no problem. That's a small think to ask for.

Absolutely -- you are paying 3-4 digits for a guitar -- they can put out 1-2 digits for set of strings, even if it is Tomastik Infeld $17 strings!

Everytime I have bought a new guitar I asked that a fresh set of strings be put on. There has never been a problem. This way you also get the strings you want on the guitar.

I have even asked the store to put on fresh strings on a guitar that I was just interested in.
Most guitar stores will throw in a set or two of strings of your choice upon the sale. Some will even throw in an electronic tuner and some picks. It never hurts to ask! |
