Default Larrivee recordings

Well, I finally started recording my tunes. I had booked a 3 hour session at a local studio for last Monday and I am really happy with the results. I used the 00-50 for 2 tunes and my new L-03R for 4 of them. I'm putting together an "EP"...remember EPs? Anyways, I am in the process of getting my ISRC codes, bar codes...etc and I should have something up at cdbaby.com in the next little while. Here are a couple of the tunes I did.

Samuel - recorded with my Larrivee 00-50

After the Battle - recorded with a Larrivee L-03R

Hope you like them.

Awesome tones and playing Denis.

I'll be watching for your CD Baby post.

Thanks for the links.

Very nice, Denis. To my ear, Larrivee's are strong in the lower mid-range area, with a classic tone -- whereas Taylor's are strong in the upper mid-range area with a more modern zing.

I'll answer in his absence.....yes

Denis can flat out play as you can see, and has compositional skills to boot.

I told him this morning after listening that I felt like selling everything except one guitar and locking myself in a room for a couple years to practice.....

Yes, they are originals. Problem is I'm not very prolific. If I had more free time, I could sit down and let these little pieces flow out of me but with a full time day job, 2 young boys and a girlfriend....I'm sure many of you know what I mean.

Kabalan, I live in the Outaouais region which is in Western Quebec, just across the river from Ottawa.

All I can say is, "Wow!" Very inspirational, Denis - it makes me want to go out and try my own hand at composing. I really liked the bass on Samuel - it had a great melody, but that bass was just rock steady the whole time, and really grounds the whole piece. There's something about After the Battle that just appeals to the Celtic fan in me, although it's not really Celtic at all. There's just something about it that is both sad and uplifting at the same time. Terrific.

Denis,

Wonderful recordings. Love your pulsing bass lines and sense of rythym. Beautiful tone and clean playing. Thanks for posting!

Great music...Both tunes are wonderful...

But why does my Larrivee L-03 sound nothing like yours.

Any hints or secrets you used to get that spacious sound?

Strings?

Default Larrivee Recordings

Hey Denis....I going to have to send my L03R back to Larrivee because it doesnt sound nearly as nice as when you play yours....and I am sure it has nothing to do with the operator.

All kidding aside you have produced some great recordings that illustrate that a modestly priced guitar in the right hands can produce some great results.....Congratulations!

Denis -

Just Excellent!! I first saw and heard you play Samuel on Youtube. It sure does not matter which Larrivee you are using, it justs sounds terrific! By chance, do you have these songs tabbed out to share? Wait, on second thought, that probably was not an appropriate question.

Great job and keep them coming!!

Brian
