I went to one last year. It was so crowded, there was no way I could get near the Taylor Techs advising folks on their instruments.

I was disappointed that there were no free setups and/or string changes. But everyone got a coupon for a special promotional price valid only for that night ( didn't help me as I was not planning to buy anything ).

And I went 1 hour early, was able to sit 3 rows from the front - others coming later had to stand way back in the room.

The best part about the whole evening was seeing the new solid body Taylors, and feeding with wild abandon on a large bowl of M&Ms and peanuts.

Are the roadshows the same thing as those road clinics they use to do? I went to a chris proctor one before.

The best thing to do is use the forum search feature and look at past posts about Road Shows. I wrote several lengthy posts about them and so did other members. All your questions will be answered.

In short they are worth going to. You will learn (a little or a lot) depending on your exsisting knowledge of Taylor Guitars and guitars in General.

If are a walking encyclopedia of Taylor Guitars and you have seen and played every model Taylor makes then stay at home and practice.

They have a whole bunch of different Taylor guitars there. Esp the rare ones.

Then they have people demonstrate some of the newest stuff.
I went last year, they were demonstrating the new solidbody electric, and the T5. Not much focus on acoustic.

I think they dance around a big sacrificial bonfire of Martins and Gibsons... Then they do some sort of secret ritual to honor the great ES... and celebrate the benevolence of the NT... it's a real hoot...

I went to one of the Road Clinics 2 years ago in Cincinnati, and it was well worth my time. Not only did I get a new set of strings put on my 414CE by the head of Taylor's service department, I got to enjoy the singing and playing of the late Artie Traum, and buy one of his CD's. He will be missed.

P.S. I also brought my then brand new T-5 that I had purchased in Nashville a week before the clinic, and it got almost as much attention as Artie did. Nobody had seen one in Cincinnati at the time.

This is an old question....the Road Show is not the sama as the old clinics. There will be no one like Chris Proctor or Doyle Dykes there doing a little concert. There will be a Sales Rep of some sort giving a talk about taylor guitars. There will be someone doing some short demo's of the T5 and/or the Solidbody. There will be some nice guitars at decent prices that the taylor guys bring in. They will be giving away some free goodies like string sets and Tee shirts. The Road show is not a restringing clinic, although there may or may not be a tech there who can do a few small repairs on a few guitars.

It's a shame they apparently aren't doing the clinics anymore. The Road Show as described would be ok, but I can't say I would make a special effort to attend one.
