I use this...

I don't do alternate tunings, but I think you can save settings for them with this tuner.

Yeah, I looked at that one. It gets good ratings. It was a little more expensive than the PolyTune but I may get one down the line.

Any Chromatic tuner (Snark, TC PolyTune, Peterson StroboClip HD, et al) will recognise any note it senses - no need for ‘special settings’ for Open or ‘Altered’ tunings. You can tune to any tuning you wish, a Chromatic tuner will always tell you which note a string is playing.

I think there’s a tendency for some people to overthink these things.

On the contrary, as stated here numerous times all tuners will tell you when you're tuned to any note. If in open F Tuning : F-A-C-F-C-F is all you need.

The reason I bought it is I got sick of using the cheap snark type tuners, and then my guitar still sounding a little out of tune, and having to tweak it again from there.

These things are dead balls accurate, and there are preloaded sweeteners for specific instruments. It also has updatable software.

I think the point here is as long as you know what the tuning is and how to get there.
If you don't, and you also don't want to break strings trying, then the current Peterson tuners have a feature called "Guided Tuning" which displays the tuning in numbered fashion, just select the tuning preset you want and tune to 1 2 3 4 5 6.
There are 73 open/alternate presets which include standard, open major, minor and alternate tunings in all keys (including open F ).
Here a link which explains how it works:

Guided Tuning

It's also useful if you do multiple quick tuning changes and want to avoid mistakes which can always happen live.

If you're on this forum then you have access to the internet and therefore you know what the tuning is, what it sounds like and how to get there. No need for fancy presets at all. I think that was the point of my (and many other) response(s).
