Thumbs up Anyone else do this?

My music room walls are loaded with various small body acoustics. I also keep one under the bed as a "rotating" surprise. Currently, the rotating surprise has been cased for almost a whole year. Time to let it out...it will be like receiving a new acoustic. By the way, it's a custom Martin 0-15 Anyone else like to do this?

I have three folding guitar stands and a sheet music stand. I always keep at least two instruments put on the stands, ready to be immediately picked up and played. Sometimes it's one acoustic and one electric, sometimes one acoustic and a mandolin, sometimes two acoustics, or two acoustics and a mandolin.

If a guitar isn't on a stand ready to be played then it's in its case. I have the cases squired away all over the upstairs. Oddly none under any bed.

I rotate guitars every couple of weeks as the ADHD moves me.

I keep all my guitars in cases but always where I can see them and quickly grab one when I feel the calling. Hiding it under the bed isn't a "surprise" if you know it's there and if you forget then you may as well have never gotten it.

Nope. I don’t have enough guitars to stick a custom Martin under my bed and forget it for a year. I try to keep my herd to two. For years I made a point of playing both daily. But in the last few months I’ve started playing one for a couple weeks then switching to the other and playing it exclusively for a couple weeks. Helps me bond with an individual guitar rather than falling into the trap of constantly comparing one with the other.

I love surprises, but I don't have enough guitars to forget what one of them is.

Nope! Not me. I have 4 guitars and I keep them all penned up at n a rack in my “man cave”. Yes I play all of them on a regular rotating basis. None of them are rare or exotic. They are just pretty good guitars and that’s good enough for me.

JPD, your custom Martin 0-15 is your 'under the bed guitar that only comes out once a year'? That's what happens when you have a beautiful PRS and amp

Is the one under your bed to protect yourself?

I do rotate mine but there are some that have louder voices from within the cases, if you know what I mean.

If I left a wooden guitar unhumidified that long it would crack in half.

No. But there's usually one on my coffee table for easy access from the couch.. In its case, of course (it's a pretty big coffee table).

Yes, I do know what you mean, although.....sometimes I still respond to the quieter voices...and am glad I did.
