Looks really nice ... but I wish they'd bring back this one ... like Elvis played in the film 'Jailhouse Rock'.

That's one nice looking guitar. If it sounds as good as it looks I'd like one please!

I'd have to agree, that is one good looking guitar.

I assume Maton will bring out a few more models in the new size later - they have tooled up for the size......more easy on the pocket perhaps...but I did spy one piece of gold in the spec sheets that wouldn’t come with the budget models - this one above comes in the Maton branded custom Hiscox flight case! You can get them for 808 size, but it is hard work

The neck specs etc appear to be the current Maton neck......

Here is the full blurb with more details:

You didn't get one with the Messiah? I got one with the Aussie, best case in the house by far. Maybe it's only the last couple of years they've been handing them out. One thing I wish the Aussie did have is the gloss finish on the back/sides. Other than that the blackwood on mine looks much like the one in the clip.

I did get one with the Messiah 808 - had a choice of the Hiscox or The Maton Case. (For the people that don’t have a clue what I am talking about, the Maton 808 is a deep body 00 and won’t squeeze into a standard Hiscox 00 case). But before I bought the Messiah, I had my custom black 808 and a bee in the bonnet about getting a Hiscox for it. I rang everywhere locally, nothing at the time. Then I thought about buying a used Messiah or Aussie online, sell the guitar on, keep the Hiscox!

As if I was going to sell a guitar on, ha ha. Then I was speaking to a guitar shop about something and I mentioned the Maton branded custom Hiscox and he said he had.....ha...2! I was there before he hung up the phone, and I gave him my other standard Maton boat anchors, I mean, cases. Easy to swing 2 808s around in Hiscoxes!

I wouldn't mind a Hiscox case for my Nashville.......it came with the "Made for Maton" case. While I think it would survive a nuclear blast, and holds and protects my guitar very well, it is big and not very stable when standing up, and it falls over a lot.
If the standard Maton cases are boat anchors, the Made for Maton cases are battleship anchors!! Man they are heavy!!! I usually take the Nashville to gigs in a standard Maton case now, as it packs better, stands up, and takes up less real estate at small space gigs.

You could ring a few local shops and place your bets, you never know....but the guaranteed way is to buy a (used?/new?) Messiah or Aussie with the Hiscox Maton case...... whichever guitar you are taking, out it in the Hiscox!

Swapped my new EBW808 into the Hiscox from my SRS808, probably sell that guitar...

I started Sunday on my Lowden S35, then my Lowden O22 in DADGAD.....had a cuppa and thought.....’wonder what the Messiah 808 would be like in DADGAD, could be a bit small.....sounds absolutely fab....

It’s got long scale neck so i think it’s more OM equivalent.
I’m not sure if this diamond edition is one off model like the 70th anniversary’s ones. They just recently built their 100th diamond edition.

Hopefully this shape will not remain exclusive to this model or the custom shop.

I also hope Maton will do a short scale neck one day..
