Smile Newbie Intro

Hey, I'm Gerhard, 60, living in the Dominican Republic for 28 years now.
Started playing guitar at the age of 22 and have been noodling on the couch until 3 years ago, when I decided to work on my last lifes dream, becoming a gigging musician at 60.
Had my first open mic appearance excactly one year ago, since then I've been playing plenty, for free, for charity, for tips and also paid gigs.

I just stumbled on this forum by chance, but find it very interesting to read other musicians opinions and experiences, as I do not know many other musicians.

Have a beautiful day!

Hi Gerhard and welcome. That's great on following your dreams and starting to gig. The AGF is a very enjoyable and informative place to spend some time. Again welcome.

Hi Gerhart, congratulations on starting to gig in your sixties, it's a good time to do it because presumably you don't need the money.

I'm in a similar position although older, played all my life for my own pleasure, but I'm now playing 3-4 gigs a week in Lanzarote. I make enough to cover my winter "holiday" and it's great fun most of the time.
