I think that I would go for it. I am known though for going out on a limb and I would especially do so for such a guitar. Why not? What do you stand to lose, some money? If it doesn't pan out over time it isn't like it is the end of your world. You don't even know if those spots are mold or not. "They might be" means that they might not be. What the heck, take a chance on it.
