Default New string day for the D-18....

I put on a new set of Elixir Polyweb strings on my D-18 today. Custom Light.

Sounds great, brought back many nice memories of what it sounded like back in the '70's. I used the Taylor method of wrapping the strings around the pegs and it came out looking like a very neat factory installation.

Very happy !!

No, the D-18 is my beater guitar I keep in my studio for practicing. I had a set of the D'adarrio's Nickel Bronze I put on last March and they lost all their tone. The Polywebs on my D-35 sounded so good I decided to put them on the D-18 as well. I've been trying a variety of strings and have settles on the Polywebs. they sound and last the best for me.

I tried cheaper strings, but they don't last very long, so where are you saving ?? I don't like squeaky strings, so I go to the Polywebs because they sound best to me for recording. The guy I bought my D-35 from, used Polywebs and recommended them to me.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried the Martin Retros?

Yes. For some reason I didn't like them. Most Martin strings squeak like crazy for me. I can't use them for recording, as the squeak ruined the test recordings I tried.

I also tried the Lifespan and couldn't wait to take them off.
