Aren’t these the same as Titanium? If so the Titanium strings sounded great, a little more mellow that Retros, and feel easy and low tension like. My one complaint is that If I played hard, they are the only set I’ve owned that was prone to d or g breakage.

Not yet, but heard someone tried saying that strings are good at mahogany guitar like Gibson J45.

Luxe could refer to their titanium core strings (with e, b plain strings being made of precipitation hardening stainless) .. or the Kovar wound Luxe (about half the price, still expensive at $20/set).
I've tried the titanium, didn't love them on my OM-28 (dull sounding to my ear), but unmounted them carefully, figuring I might want to try them again, down the road. Which I did on my Santa Cruz OM, they sounded better, however they wouldn't be any sort of a go-to. One claim to fame for these is lasting up to a year in regular use, so if one was averse to string changes, and liked the sound, they'd be a pretty good deal (I'd go through 12 sets of plain strings in a year, or 3-4 sets of treated/coated). No idea about the Kovar, though if one liked nickel/monel, they ought to be in that flavor. |
