I really don't care about brands or models as much as the individual characteristics of a particular instrument.

Three I already have.
With funds available I would spec a 12 fret - 12 string guitar with sitka / mahogany combo, and for another six string it would be 12 fret with cutaway cedar/walnut. As it is I am quite content, they all bring a lot to the table and to be honest Blueridge is really growing on me.

35 posts and only 2 people would include a Collings guitar? Wow...

Without specifying tonewoods...

1. Somogyi Andamento Model( I had the incredible opportunity to play the Rosewood version at a store in Korea)
2. Collings D3
3. Bashkin Placencia
4. Olson SJ
5. Collings Baby

i second this notion. five seems a bit of an arbitrary number to me and a bit unfathomable in some ways. i'm mostly a woodshedder that plays for my own amusement and have scaled down to two guitars and i think the "extra" one is superfluous.

i'd be more likely to want one guitar, one banjo, one harmonica (possibly two), and a piano of sorts.

Instead of exact guitars, I try to think of them as five different roles: a quality 6-string, a decent 12-string, a beater 6-string, an electric and a bass. Right now I have one for each role with no ambition of taking up resonator, baritone, etc. Okay, maybe a nylon string NS24e-LTD...

After the Yamaha, all I want is the smaller 000-28H in amber tone. But since you're buying... I'll also take a 000-18, HD-28, and custom D-18 with 1-11/16 neck.

I'll keep the five that I have in my Sig (once the Schertler is sold).

I'm immensely happy with them, and am completely GAS free. They represent the best of the best guitars, for me, that I've ever played.

At a push, I might swap out my Cargo for a Tippin Staccato in mahogany/sitka, but that would leave me without a travel guitar, which I use regularly.
