Default Welcome back Ovation!

I know it's been talked about already but it was nice seeing it announced more officially.

Yesterday I received my December/2015 issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. In that issue's news section they announced that Drum Workshop will be restarting Ovation production in their New Hartford CT plant, with shipments slated to resume later this year.

That's Great News! I enjoyed my visit to the Mother Ship in New Hartford a couple of years ago. Another Adamas in my future? Yes!

Played in this way they actually do a credible job of sounding like a loud Ovation acoustic, rather than the edgy, quacky, direct-to-amp "acoustic-electric" UST tone that's become the norm regardless of maker; compare the tone on Neil Diamond's Hot August Night album to Paul Simon's on the S&G Concert in Central Park, and I think you'll see what I mean...

Interesting . I could not stand that slippery back side but they did sound good . I was told there upper end model was very good but I don't know for sure .

Did they take over the old Guild plant ?

I'm thinking that there is an Ovation in my future.

Edit: or at least a good possibility of one!

Also, the newer Deep Contour Bowl is much more stable, whether standing or sitting, than the traditional "roundbowl" models.

Plugged or unplugged, mine sounds just wonderful. I plug into a Fishman Loudbox Mini. Maybe I'll try it with my Crate 15-watt amp, but it's SS and not tube-powered.

I had an Elite T 1778 (all black model, spruce top, sound holes only on the upper bout) that I should have never sold. It sounded great unplugged, and it sounded even better--completely transcendent--plugged into the Genz Benz I owned at the time.
I did try to replace the T a few years later with a TX (the offshore version of the T), but whereas the T was alive and resonant, the TX seemed like someone had stuffed it full of socks, for they changed the design in ways not visible (changed the bracing, for example) but completely obvious in regard to tone and volume.
So, I'd love to see a rebirth of the 1778T.

I have a pewter 1778T that I got as a "play out" guitar. Never fails to please the crowds. Say what you will, but this thing is alive. They are a monstrously great guitar to make a living on. Plenty of other places to spend a LOT more money, but very few will sound/work/play better.

I don't know why you bother with this glorious nugget of wisdom every time an Ovation thread starts up. Do you copy and paste it?
