I know what you mean about slim necks. My lanky ol' hands kinda knot up on them.

That's a beauty ! Love my HD28V , they are fantastic guitars !

I've also got a ltd. ed. Madagascar/Adirondack Martin dread and to my ear it does not sound any "better" than the HD28V. I haven't played anything that does ...

Congrats on your new guitar! It's nice that you found a way to play without pain.
I hope I won't have the same problem in the future as I love my J45 and the ones with beefer necks are often much more expensive versions and hard to find!

Played one of those at Austin Vintage Guitar on Saturday, a fine instrument, the archetypal Martin Dread.

Funny you should say that Vince, the other guitar I can still play for long periods is my J45rw. It has a 1 23/32 neck, but more importantly it has a fuller C carve. It's the carve or shape of the neck that seems the be the most important factor for my hands.

I played a used one of these at a local shop just over a week ago -- a very nice guitar. Yours looks great -- much happy picking to you.

Not to hijack your thread but the new owner of your "old" D35 is extremely pleased with it! Nobody that has seen it believes that it's a 1996. My guitar teacher is NOT a Martin fan but just gushes over how amazing it sounds every week. Congrats on your beautiful new guitar - looks like everybody came out well in this deal!!!
